The Modeling Committee

MODELS

Hi, my name is Kayla Neil and I am on the Modeling Committee for this years Spring Fashion Show. In my committee, my responsibility is to coordinate the models schedules and prepare them for the upcoming show. I began with modeling tryouts, and chose twenty five models out of over fifty contestants. After carefully selecting the models, me and two model trainers hold a practice for them where we train them and talk about upcoming events. After each practice, I see improvement in each and every model. They are all working hard and are confident to be successful. We are all excited for this years show, its going to be amazing!

The Promotions Committee

Our names are Hayley, Maglyn and Natalie and we are on the Promotions Committee. Our job on the fashion show consists of utilizing social media platforms to promote the show, designing the tickets, look-books and programs that will be sold and distributed at the show, creating and updating the Aurora Fashion Show website with information regarding the show. We work with photographers, models and designers to gather photos of models in garments. We use these photos to showcase the pieces created by the talented designers which are then used to promote the show.

The Designer committee

HI! We are Courtney and Lauryn. We are the Designer Committee for the Aurora Spring Fashion Show. We work with the apparel design students who are submitting collections to the show. We send out weekly emails updating them on show progress and collecting information that we need from them. Once models were selected we placed models with designers based on what they wanted their models to look like. Once models were placed with designers, we set the runway order. Two designers are working on children's collections. We helped to find and recruit children to be models in the show. We helped to coordinate the schedule for designers to meet with an industry professional to show them their sketches, mood boards, and to get help creatively. We are looking forward to seeing the end results of all of their hard work!

The Runway

Hi! I'm Michaela Breaux and I'm on the Runway Committee for the Spring Fashion Show, Aurora. My job mainly consists of communicating with the director of the show venue in order to make sure the layout of the show is set up as requested, handle lighting, decoration, and a good majority of other technical aspects that are necessary for the show to run. Once all of the plans are in place and ready to be executed day of show, I'm there to help make sure it all runs smoothly, and take note of how everything works incase of any malfunctions with lighting, music, etc. This Spring, for the first year ever, we've decided to hold the show outdoors at the SEC plaza next to the Memorial Union. We're all crossing our fingers for a warm, sunny evening, but regardless of the weather it's sure to be a night to remember!

WHY IS THE SHOW CALLED AURORA?

WHY IS THE SHOW CALLED AURORA?

The word “Aurora” essentially means: a natural electrical phenomenon characterized by the appearance of streamers of reddish light in the sky. The 2017 Oregon State Spring Fashion show is all about the combination of light and dark with pops of red.  With our outside venue, we want to create an atmosphere that plays on the light and dark contrast through bulb lighting and accenting the structure of the venue pillars. The focus of the show is always the designer collections and garments and our goal as directors of the show is to create the show atmosphere that will best accentuate the designs.

Welcome to Aurora

Aurora is a student organized fashion show. All garments are designed and made by OSU Apparel Design students. The students have dedicated a large amount of their time to creating captivating pieces to be featured in this show.

Welcome to our Blog!  The 2017 Spring Fashion Show class would love for you to get a behind the scenes look of how the show comes to life.  Read up on what our committees are getting accomplished along the way.  Also, through this blog we will follow some of the designers and the class as they plan the show. This will be the one place to get a behind the scenes experience of the processes our designers must go through to make a one of a kind garment.
